CHAT ROOM: Women of all shapes and sizes have been posting pictures of themselves in bikinis accompanied by the ‘fatkini’ and ‘losehatenotweight’ hashtags on Instagram. The hashtags have been praised for encouraging a positive body image.
Given that three in five Australian adults are overweight or obese, should we be celebrating “fat”?
Hmmm i have a few thoughts on this one so hang tight ;)
I often think this as i post on HG's fan page, i have several friends who are in the fitness industry and i cant help but think they're shaking their heads at my but politely keeping their thoughts to themselves!
For years and years we have had the medias idea of the perfect body thrown in our face and if we didnt achieve said body we were fat, lazy and never going to achieve anything until we achieve the prefect body, or fit into their ideal mold of a what a women should look like.
And here's were i get disgracefully honest
I have hated my body my whole life.
I truly believe that i treat my body like i do, because i hate it so much.
i have tried my hardest to find a day, a moment in my life where i said to myself "Kimmy you look amazing today"but i can not think of 1 at all to write about.
I have been bullied my whole life about my weight.
I remember being around 8 or nine and dieting and writing out an exercise program because i had "Puppy fat"
I was told at 16 i would probably get a boyfriend if i lost weight.
I was told i would never be anything until i lost weight.
I was taught the only way to excel in life , to be someone in life, the only way i was going to acheive my dreams was if i lost weight.
{please note most of these comment were from adults to a child}|
and boy have i tried
every. diet .on .the .market.
and i failed every single one.
I blamed myself for not being strong enough, i blamed my body for being well my body.
I never once looked at myself and thought ...I'm not supposed to be a size 6, I'm just not built that way.
When i was 16 i dreamt of having Cindy Crawford's body ,no one told me that the short arse that i was will never look like that, because of my genetics! And that she was photoshopped to perfection.
What i post on Hourglass Fashion isnt about celebrating fat , its about celebrating YOU in all your glory!!!
Its about telling the media that women of all shapes and sizes should be accepted, that size does not matter we are all beautyFULL.
I love seeing women celebrating their bodies, i hope one day i can undo the damage that's been done in my heart and mind and rock a bikini or a short skirt.
I am the heaviest ive ever been and im not happy {if i was i would be celebrating with you all } and ill be sharing my journey on getting healthier {EEEEEPPPPP}
But for now i want to tell you all lets celebrate that amzing ,strong ,real, beautyFULL women that we are.
because lets face it your body hears everything your mind says
